## About Agent Island

Agent Island is a free, open-source desktop companion for developers who run Claude Code and Codex. It solves a simple workflow problem: coding agents often continue working in terminals or background sessions while the developer moves to another task, and it is easy to miss the moment when an agent needs input or finishes. Agent Island watches the local session artifacts already present on the machine and turns them into clear status signals without sending prompts, repository contents, or session data to a hosted dashboard.

The app distinguishes practical states such as working, waiting for input, finished, and stale. It surfaces those states from the menu bar and can notify the user when attention is required. This lets a developer supervise multiple coding sessions without repeatedly opening every terminal window. The goal is not to replace Claude Code or Codex, orchestrate agents, or modify their output. It is a lightweight status layer that helps a person return at the right moment.
