## About E-Ink

E-Ink is an independent ebook toolkit built for people who want web articles and documents on a real e-reader without the chrome of the original page. Paste a public URL; the service extracts the readable article, builds chapter structure from headings, keeps useful images, and packages a clean EPUB3 file you can open on Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, and other EPUB devices. Older Kindles can take a second conversion pass to MOBI when needed.

The core workflow is deliberately simple. You preview Markdown before download so a bad extract is obvious before the file hits the device. Login walls and paywalls are out of scope — E-Ink is not a piracy site and not a Calibre replacement. It focuses on public pages and files you already own.

Around that core, the same product offers format conversion among EPUB, MOBI, PDF, Markdown, HTML, and DOCX. Optional ebook translation supports bilingual layouts. Text-to-speech can turn chapters into audio. Mind maps can be generated from book structure. In-browser readers keep files on the device without uploading them for reading. The UI ships in sixteen languages so makers and readers outside English-only markets can use it without a separate localization project.

Accounts start with free credits for conversions. After that, pay as you go. Readers and editors stay free. Uploaded conversion files are processed and deleted; we do not keep a copy of your book. A public API, OpenAPI docs, and llms.txt are available for developers who want to integrate conversion into their own tools.

Who it is for: indie makers who ship writing tools, knowledge workers who read long-form on e-ink screens, students who want articles offline, and developers who need a small conversion service without running Pandoc and a readability stack themselves. Who it is not for: people looking to bypass paywalls, scrape private content, or replace a full desktop Calibre library workflow.

Launch plan notes for MakerHunt: we chose the free nofollow listing so we do not need to embed a badge on the homepage overnight. The product is live, freemium, and actively maintained. Tagline: Turn any web page into an EPUB for your e-reader. Categories: Productivity and Developer Tools. Pricing: freemium with free credits on signup.

Additional context for reviewers: the extract pipeline uses readability-style content selection and structures headings into a table of contents. Images that belong to the article are retained when safe. The EPUB is valid EPUB3. Markdown preview exists so users can catch navigation chrome or ads that slipped through before sending the file to Kindle Send-to or sideloading via USB. Format conversion is useful when someone already has a PDF or DOCX and wants EPUB for an e-reader. Translation is optional and intended for learning and bilingual reading, not for replacing professional literary translation. TTS is a convenience layer for commuting. The in-browser reader is intentionally local-first so private books do not need to leave the device.

We are happy to adjust screenshots, logo, or category after review. If anything in the listing looks incomplete, email openminimax@gmail.com and we will fix it quickly. Thank you for considering E-Ink for a MakerHunt free nofollow launch week.
