## About Pocket Screen

Pocket Screen is a macOS productivity app from Toybird Labs, made by Masaki Iino. It keeps another app window visible as a small, resizable live Picture-in-Picture reference view while you continue working in a different app. Its purpose is to reduce repeated window switching and keep the information you need in sight. It creates a separate live reference view of the source window, with controls for arranging that view around your work.

The app is useful whenever a task involves looking back and forth between your main work and supporting information. You can keep a PDF or document visible while writing, refer to a webpage while completing a task, or follow a tutorial while using another application. Dashboards, progress windows, chat, instructions, and timers can also serve as reference material. On a single MacBook display, a compact reference view gives you a way to keep that material nearby while continuing to use your working app.

Pocket Screen supports up to two simultaneous reference views. Each view can be moved and resized, so you can choose a position and size that suit the information you are checking. Opacity controls let you adjust the view, and Click Through is available when you want pointer input to pass through it. You can pause live updating when you want to hold the current reference image, and adjustable update quality gives you another control over the live view.

The app works from the Mac menu bar and includes global keyboard shortcuts. Option + Command + P opens a Picture-in-Picture view, and Option + Command + X closes it. These controls help you manage reference views while working across applications. The central workflow stays simple: bring the reference window into a separate compact view, place it where it helps, and continue working with the information visible.

Window content is processed locally on your Mac. Pocket Screen does not upload captured window content to an external server. An optional setting can exclude reference views from supported screenshots, screen recordings, and screen sharing. That exclusion depends on the supported capture environment and is not a guarantee for every third-party application.

Pocket Screen runs on macOS 14 or later and supports both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It launched on July 14, 2026, and is available through the Mac App Store. The pricing model is freemium: the free version allows an unlimited number of sessions, with up to 10 minutes per session and no expiration. Unlimited Access is available as a US$9.99 one-time purchase. There is no subscription.

For writing, following instructions, monitoring progress, or checking reference material, Pocket Screen keeps another window available as a compact live view so you can stay with the task in front of you.
