About CitedIndex

CitedIndex is the neutral index of AI-visibility and GEO tools: the software that tracks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews cite your brand when someone asks a question in your market. Search is no longer only a page of blue links. A growing share of answers is generated, and the question a marketing team has to answer has shifted from "where do we rank" to "are we quoted, and by which model". CitedIndex exists to make the tooling for that question comparable, in one place, without a sales pitch attached to it.

The index currently holds 102 published tools across four categories. AI visibility monitoring covers the tools that watch generative answers for mentions of your brand. AI rank tracking covers the tools that measure position and share of voice inside those answers over time. GEO and content optimization covers the tools that help you change what you publish so that models have something citable to work with. Citation services covers the services built around getting and verifying citations themselves. Each category page lists the tools that belong in it, so a reader can compare like with like instead of comparing a monitoring dashboard against a content editor.

The editorial rule is fewer entries, each researched from primary sources and dated. A listing is written from the vendor's own documentation, product pages and pricing pages rather than from press coverage or affiliate summaries, and every entry carries the date on which it was last checked. That date is on the page for a reason: this category moves quickly, prices change, features are renamed, and a reader deserves to see how fresh a claim is before acting on it. Where a vendor does not publish something, the index says so rather than guessing.

The audience is anyone who has been handed the AI-visibility problem and has to choose tooling for it: SEO and content teams, in-house marketers, agencies evaluating what to resell, and founders who noticed their product being described by a model and want to know whether that description is accurate. Browsing by category is the fastest route in; each entry then gives what the tool does, what it costs and where the information came from.

CitedIndex has been online since July 2026 and is run by Matfy, a one-person team in the Netherlands. A listing in the index is free and stays free, with one optional paid upgrade: a one-time twenty-nine dollar fee for a do-follow link. The site is built with Next.js 16, React 19 and TypeScript, on Prisma 7 and PostgreSQL (Neon), styled with Tailwind CSS 4, authenticated with Better Auth and deployed on Vercel. Vendors who want their tool listed, corrected or re-checked can write to hello@citedindex.com.
