About Pocket Screen

Pocket Screen helps you work with reference material on a single Mac display. Keep a PDF beside your writing, a tutorial beside your editor, or a dashboard in view while you continue your main task. It creates independent live Picture-in-Picture reference views of supported Mac windows, leaving the originals available.

Focus on a useful area, move and resize the view, freeze important content, or use Click Through. To keep content from different tabs of one browser window, freeze a reference before changing the tab and adding another view. Frozen views retain a snapshot; they do not update hidden browser tabs independently. Customizable keyboard shortcuts, arrangement and opacity controls help the views fit the way you work.

The free app supports up to two views and 10 minutes of PiP use per app launch. Unlimited removes the time limit, supports up to four views and adds Ultra quality, up to 4K/60 fps on supported Macs. Choose a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription. No account is required, and captured window content stays on your Mac. Requires macOS 14 or later.

Unlimited is available for US$9.99 as a one-time purchase or US$2.99 per month (US App Store).

A typical workflow starts with a reference window you already use. Keep a PDF or webpage beside the document you are writing, place instructions beside a form you are completing, or keep a tutorial visible beside an editor. The separate reference view helps you compare information without repeatedly moving away from the main task. A compact dashboard can also stay visible while you continue working in another application.

A reference view is intended for viewing. Continue scrolling, typing and interacting in the original source application. If you want a fixed piece of information to remain visible while changing that source, freeze the view first. This is particularly useful when a browser window contains several tabs: one frozen reference can preserve the first tab while another view shows the next selected tab. The frozen reference remains a snapshot. It is not a separate browser session and does not keep an inactive tab live.

Choose the free version for short reference sessions with up to two views. When you need longer continuous use or more simultaneous references, either Unlimited purchase option unlocks the same feature set. The monthly subscription and one-time purchase are alternatives. No account is needed to start, and the captured window content is processed locally rather than uploaded to an external service.
